I came home from work today to find that my BFG 8800GTX has taken a shit on me, and no longer works.
Seeing how I am a poor man , it is going to take a few weeks to get the cash together for another card.
I am looking at a BFG 9800 GT for 130.00 from Worst Buy.
Happy New Year! |

That's not good news Geek but BFG are Lifetime Warranty - So you're going to send it back and pay the difference to upgrade to the 9800 GT?

I belive that I have voided the warranty when I removed the dust shield to clean the fins on the heat sink, but I will sure give it a try.
I have installed a BFG 7800 gt (You had one of these cards Hornet) and it plays CoD WaW pretty well.
(I didn't get any pb kicks either, but it was only me on the server. Need more players for a true "pb kick test".)
The 7800 will buy me some time as I want to upgrade the whole machine.
Do you still have your old 7800 hornet? I would be interested in buying it and then I can run the two in an sli mode....that should help untill I upgrade.
What is the latest, greatest Nvidia card anyway? |

Yeah I still have the old BFG 7800 and would be more than willing to give it to you - FREE of CHARGE!
That should cover my dues for this year. Don't worry about the shipping costs either, I'll cover that.
I was looking and I don't have the original box, so I'll have to find a good box to ship it in and pack it real good.
Might be a couple of weeks before I can get to the Post Office and I'll send it parcel post.
Just need your address - although I've got it written down someplace - PM me.
I'll let you know when I've shipped it and how it was shipped, so hold on till then - With your card and the one I'll send running in SLI, that should get you through this year.

Got the PM - It was an OEM card and the shop didn't give me all the stuff with it - so no bridge.

Great, as soon as the snow stops - should be on Wednesday ,will walk down to the Post Office and mail parcel to you. Can't drive the car, the roads are worse than my driveway and only have summer tires on.
I need the exercise anyway, put on 10 lbs over the Holidays.
I'll post to let you know when I've done it.

Geek;
The parcel went out this morning at 10:00 am from the Post Office here in Moncton, New Brunswick - The clerk said it's going by "Air" but will take 10 days - WTF?
What are they using - Hot Air Balloon?
Damn Canadian Postal Service - Should get it Friday 15th - oh wait, that's probably 10 business days which would make it Jan 19th, I reckon.
Gotta love the Postal Service.
Hope you get it sooner.

No problems - forgot I even had it and since none of my other computers would ever use it - someone I know should.
Glad to help out - 2 of those cards together should pretty much run anything out there now, especially matched with your P4 3.6 GHz CPU.
My old backup Comp runs that CPU with a GeForce 260 video card and I run all the same games that I'm running on this expensive computer.
Have fun - let me know when you get it and how both cards are working when you install it.

| G-card arrived today and I have it installed. Haven't had a chance to really mess with it, but I did find out that you can only run one monitor in SLI mode. |

I'm glad you got it and I didn't know you could only hookup one monitor to an SLI configuration.
Seems rather odd to me since both cards have two connectors - that means you have four and can only use one - weird.
There's got to be a way around that somehow. I'll do some digging and asking around if there's a fix.
Get in game - that's a good way to test the new cards. Am in there right now, with CPL - he says get yor arse in game, NOW!

Found this on Nvidia's site - Quote
"Download the NVIDIA® GeForce® Release 180 driver to enable NVIDIA® SLI® Multi-monitor support, giving you the ability to use two monitors with your GeForce® graphics cards in SLI mode. Now you can easily switch between multi-monitor desktop mode and full screen 3D gaming mode without any additional system settings. Multi-monitor aware games – such as World in Conflict, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, and Flight Simulator X – surround you with amazing graphics to immerse you in the game. In addition, you can enjoy the flexibility of having 2, 4, or even up to 6 displays based on your GPU and motherboard configurations"
Link here;www.slizone.com
Looks like it can be done - try it out.
WHOOPS! - SCRATCH THAT - only for Series 8 cards. ---- SORRY!
> System requirements
> Microsoft® Windows® Vista 32-bit or 64-bit
> NVIDIA GeForce 8 series and higher GPUs
> Two monitors supported, with both monitors plugged into the same GPU from an SLI group (see display configurations)
